Our ministry of Compassion allows those who attend Westmount Park Church to minister and be of service to one another in times of need.

Under the leadership of the Pastor, the congregation is kept informed of those asking for prayer. This information is sent to those ...on-lineo by computer or by our telephone prayer chain. Our present co-coordinators are Fred and June Visser who can be reached through the church office. Volunteers bring encouragement and love when visiting the sick and the shut-ins and, if needed, meals would also be provided during difficult times.
A member of the Compassion Committee sends cards of encouragement on a regular basis.

Our ministry of Compassion is rooted in prayer

2 Corinthians 1:2-4 (NIV) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

News from Our latest Elder's Meeting

At our elders meeting last week we furthered the discussion on outreach and evangelism, and how to move the congregation in that direction. We were also searching our hearts to see if there were things that we were not doing - things that we had to clean up so we could be right with God, and in a remarkable way we all came together around our need to get back into the Word of God, and hear that "still small voice." Our proposal is to form the congregation into small groups, where we will spend time praying together, reading the Bible, studying the Bible, and finally listening to God's voice together. To that end, as an elders group, over the summer months we're going to be working hard to put together a learning program that as a whole, operating as one, we can re-discover the truths of Gods Word, to see if we can remember the joy we felt of being ...born-again,o we want to take the congregation back and for many of you, re-affirm and for a few of you understand for the first time, the foundations of our faith. Looking forward, this initiative should develop into a discipleship program the content for which we are still working out. It is our aim to have all small groups studying the same material built off the Sunday sermon. This is an exciting time, it is our belief that if we can get the whole congregation looking at the same picture from the same perspective, at the same time, ...evangelismo should just happen. We were struck by the way it came together as we talked about it; so, starting in the fall, prepare to dig in - together. Only by purposely immersing ourselves as a congregation in the Word of God can we as a group become the light He wants us to be. Thank you for your attention and we look forward to your participation in both the development and rollout of this initiative.
