Library of Westmount Park Church
“…that Christians might be properly equipped for their service.” Eph 4:12
The library, located on the lower level of the building, ministers to the congregations of Westmount Park and Summit Churches. It contains close to 4000 items consisting of commentaries, biographies, fiction, a large section for children, DVDs for all, reference material and other items too numerous to mention. In other words, we are a full service library.
The name of the library is the William Watkins Memorial Library, named after a well beloved member of the church who is now with the Lord.
The library began in a cupboard and contained 200 rather ancient books.
Bob and Lois McKenzie had a vision for this work in the 1960s and as new books began to arrive they were put on the Dewey Decimal system, given an accession number and a filing system. Today this information had been placed on a computer.
Lois ran the library for many years and gradually gathered a strong support staff. The vision she and Bob had is evident in the vibrant library we have today.
The library also oversees the archives of the church which go back over 80 years.
Any newcomer to Westmount would be welcomed to the library and given a tour of our facilities.
